Clipped dust jacket not marked or torn with fading to spine and adjacent margin of rear and traces of storage. 143pp. A fascinating and beautifully illustrated account of the rediscovery of the ancient city of Herculaneum which was submerged under a river of hot mud in A.D. 79 by the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius and a reconstruction of the daily life of the people who lived there.
