The title given above is as printed on the title page, the first text page has the drop head title: Fortsetzung der Untersuchungen. An important work by the eminent zoologist and anatomist Johannes Peter Müller (1801-1858), the father of modern physiology (see also DSB). Dedicated by the author on the front cover to Chevallier Jean Baptiste - or Giovanni Battista - Vérany (1800-1865) in Nice. Some foxing to the plates but mostly marginal, text clean. A very good copy. DSB IX, pp. 567-574.
