8vo., Sixth Edition, with frontispiece, title in red and black, 187 plates and 5 diagrams in the text; original green buckram, upper board lettered in white, gilt back, backstrip lettering mildly dulled (but entirely legible) else a near fine copy. THIS COPY WAS FORMERLY IN THE LIBRARY OF SIR FRANCIS TUDSBERY AT CHAMPFLEURIE AND BEARS HIS FINE NINETEENTH-CENTURY ENGRAVED ARMORIAL BOOKPLATE ON FRONT PASTE-DOWN. Francis and Isabella Tudsbery occupied and managed the Champfleurie Estate and its famous gardens, near Linlithgow Palace, during much of the twentieth century. Their son Robin was an equerry to the late Queen Mother. The work was first published in 1901 with far fewer plates. With 16pp publisher's catalogue bound in at end, and small trade ticket os Harrison of Ipswich on front paste-down. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
