Description
Portrait of Hendrik Danielsz Hooft. Born 23 June 1716 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Died 24 August 1794 in Loenersloot, The Netherlands. Etching and Engraving by Daniel Veelwaard (1766-1851), 1795. Reasonable condition. Margins almost trimmed to the border. A small tear on the lower part, just affecting the image (=strenghtend on verso using old paper). Some creasing. Verso: blank. Mounted onto an 18th century album leaf. Provenance: collection Dr. J.G. de Lint, with his collection stamp on the verso of the mount. Dimensions: 266 x 199 mm. Hendrik Danielsz Hooft was Politician, Statesman, Mayor, Mayor of Amsterdam, Merchant, Banker, Plantation owner, and Honorary citizen of Dublin.
