Description
Louis Francois Cassas giunge a Trieste per la prima volta il primo luglio 1782 per imbarcarsi subito dopo per la Dalmazia. Rientrato a Trieste l’artista si ferma in città per preparare i disegni delle tavole della sua opera più celebre: il "Voyage pittoresque et historique de l'Istrie et de la Dalmatie" da cui è tratta la presente stampa. Il lavoro di Cassas ebbe una grande influenza sugli artisti che giunsero dalla Francia a Trieste e che per tutto l'Ottocento ne immortalarono l'espansione e l'evoluzione.
Incisione all'acquaforte (455 x 300 mm) acquarellata. Tracce d'uso ai margini bianchi.
