Washington, DC, U.S. Geological Survey, 1885-1892. Two volumes in two. 4to (29.0 x 23.1 cm). 696 [xx, 269; v, 402] pp., 85 [35; 50] lithographed plates, very large, folded, full colour geological map of New Jersey in rear pocket of first volume. Original uniform blind tooled cloth, with gilt title on the spines. = An important work with many new taxa of Cretaceous and Palaeogene age. Well-illustrated. Published as volus XI and XVIII of the U.S. Geological Survey monographs. Slight rubbing to the boards. A small label at the spine head, and a small old stamp on the titles of the bivalve part. The full colour map (in pocket) is present in a very good state. The plates and text are clean. The Gastropoda and Cephalopoda volume entirely clean. This part is the least common by far. A very good set.
