Description

6 tomes in 5 vols. Folio (38x25 cm). Contemporary blindstamped calf over wooden boards, spines with ribbons, red morocco title-labels on spines, small cupper-cornerpieces. The photograph shows an interesting set, but we have to mention the following imperfections: 1) all clasps gone; 2) foot and top spines partly damaged, of 1 spine leather of upper compartment gone; 3) 1 corner of 2nd volume damaged and cornerpiece missing; 4) leather of first hinge vol. 5 broken, but hinge still holding strong; 5) rubbed in places, with loss of layer of leather. - With 5 title-pages, printed in red and black, with large title-vignettes and engraved frontispiece "L. Gaultier incidit 1613". (small convent-stamps on titles and halftitles, name on fly-leaves scratched out). Printed in 2 columns with Greek and Latin text opposite Vol. 1: (xx, including frontispiece),934 pp. (waterstain inner margin, towards the end affecting the text); Vol. 2: (iv),196,572,146 pp.(waterstain inner margin last quires, partly affecting the text); Vol. 3-4: Together 1 title-leaf.(ii),482,406 pp.; Vol. 5: (iv),1084 pp. (small wormholes in inner margin first quires); Vol. 6: (iv),966 pp. (small hole in text leaf 311/2).
