pp. 288, (vi publisher's advertisements). 12mo. 200mm. Original publisher's pictorial full red cloth binding decorated in black, white and color illustration. Cover illustration depicts a very done-up sly-looking woman wearing a hat. Spine lettered in white and decorated plainly. Cover color bright and illustration is crisp. Spine color is bright. Corners sharp. Dust jacket present and is decorated with a photo of a woman, presumably the author, and decorated on the spine with a floral pattern. Some loss at base and head of spine. This example is like new. Hardbound. Mary Cecil Hay (1839-1886) was a novelist who grew up in Shropshire, England and spent the final years of her life in a small village on the Sussex coast called East Preston. Her work was often serialized and appeared in periodicals and weeklies in the UK, America and Australia. NW62
