Description

Two extremely rare and important publications bound together (as usual, apparently: the only copy in WorldCat, in the Bibliothèque nationale de France, is similar in this respect). 44; 32 pp. The first publication is an exhaustive guide to Paris' ten theaters. For each theater we find a history; a double-page seating diagram; a list of the administrators, musicians, and actors; and a list of ticket prices. It is perhaps worth noting that the copy in the Bibliothèque Nationale has only 36 pages while the copy I offer has 44, and is obviously complete. It is also possibly worth noting that while the title-page of both this copy and the Bibliothèque Nationale copy state "3e année", I can find no record of any copy of any other "année". The second publication is a catalogue of printed music. 8vo. Publisher's boards. Binding lightly worn but still attractive and solid. Internally fine and bright. Possibly the only surviving copy in the original boards. AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT DOCUMENT FOR THE STUDY OF THE HISTORY OF THE THEATER.
