Description

Two Volumes. Bookplate of Henry A. Muhlenberg in both volumes. Penciled manuscript ownership of Henry A. Muhlenberg, Reading, PA, 1846 on title pages of both volumes. 8vo. 230 mm. Original full cloth bindings. Corners worn with loss. Spines perished on both volumes. Hardbound. Text good. The owner of this book was Henry Augustus Muhlenberg (1823-1854) was a PA politician and Congressman. He was from a famous political dynasty. Muhlenberg attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, then studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1844, practicing law in Reading. He was elected to the State Senate in 1849, serving until 1852 when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and began Congressional service on March 4, 1853, and died less than a year later.
