Description

This is a very good hardcover copy with a very good dust jacket with almost no wear. Completely clean. Text in English and Danish. This monograph was prepared to accompany the exhibition at the Aarhus Kunstmuseum in Aarhus, Denmark in 2008. This was the world premiere of Shirin Neshat's film/video work Women Without Men, taken from the novel of the same name by Shahrnush Parsipur. All of Parsipur's works are banned in Iran today. The novel and the film trace the lives of five women in 1953, the year the Shah was restored to power in a coup sponsored by the United States. Shirin Neshat's artwork is really five video installations, each one named after one of the women. Illustrated in color. Interview with Shirin Neshat conducted by Mona Jensen. Four essays. Exhibition history. Bibliography. 9" high X 11" wide, 151 pages. Large heavy book, foreign shipping will be extra.
