Description

8vo. Together 6 pp. Includes a lithographed obituary for Michelot. Collection of six letters, including one to the secretary of the Paris Conservatory, Alfred de Beauchesne, one to the prefect of the Seine department Claude-Philibert Barthelot, comte de Rambuteau, and one to Édouard Morin, then director of the Théâtre des Variétés. - On 15 March 1836, Michelot writes a letter of introduction for an acting student of his at the Paris Conservatory, a Madame Darty, very likely to a theatre director. - Two letters from 25 May and 27 September 1842 are addressed to the current "semainier" of the Comédie-Française, an actor charged with administrative work for a week, both asking for tickets: "Je prie mon Camarade le Semainier d'avoir la bonté de me donner un billet pour la représentation de ce soir". - In the letter to Beauchesne, dated 25 June 1843, Michelot asks him to admit a young man named Auguste Morel to the entrance exam of the conservatory. - On 28 June 1843, Michelot writes to Claude-Philibert Barthelot, comte de Rambuteau to request a reduction of his property taxes: "Pierre Marie Michelot, Professeur du Conservatoire, occupant un appartement au 4ème étage rue Lepelletier [!] 9, du prix de quatorze cent francs, demande le dégrèvement de ses impositions". - Finally, on 3 November 1848, Michelot writes to Édouard Morin, requesting tickets for two representations at the Théâtre des Variétés so that he might accompany his sister and niece who "do not stop talking about them [the plays] since their return from the countryside". - Occasional stains and minor tears.
