First edition, 4to (258 x 202 mm), [6], 70, [2], 213, [1]pp., bound without half-title, spotting to first few leaves, occasional damp-staining to gutter, 2, one or two tiny marginal tears, nineteenth-century green half calf, marbled boards, slightly rubbed. An important document, in which Hastings sets out to justify his actions against Chait Singh, Raja of Benares, and the Wazir of Oudh. Apart from its historical importance, it may be considered to be the first major historical publication printed at the Honourable Company Press, Calcutta. Kaul, 3270.
