A partire dal 1891 espose i dipinti, in particolare al Salon d'Automne, al Salon des artistes français ed alla Société nationale des beaux-arts di cui fu membro nel 1910. Abel-Truchet privilegia soggetti della moderna vita urbana di Parigi e specificamente il quartiere di Montmartre. È anche conosciuto come ritrattista e per i suoi paesaggi riportati dai suoi viaggi nel sud della Francia ed in Italia. In occasione di un soggiorno in Tunisia, fece anche dipinti orientalisti.Volontario all'inizio della Prima guerra mondiale, fece parte nel 1915 di una squadra pionieristica che si occupava di camuffamento militare. Er studierte an der Académie Julian, wo er Schüler der Maler Benjamin Constant und Jules Joseph Lefebvre war. Ab 1891 stellte er die Gemälde insbesondere im Salon d'Automne, im Salon des artistes français und in der Société nationale des beaux-arts aus, deren Mitglied er 1910 war. Abel-Truchet privilegiert Themen des modernen Stadtlebens in Paris und insbesondere die Montmartre Nachbarschaft. Er ist auch als Porträtmaler bekannt und für seine Landschaften von seinen Reisen in Südfrankreich und in Italien berichtet. Während eines Aufenthalts in Tunesien fertigte er auch orientalistische Gemälde an. Zu Beginn des Ersten Weltkriegs war er freiwillig Teil eines Pionierteams, das sich 1915 mit militärischer Tarnung befasste. Anschließend wurde er Leutnant im 1. Genie-Regiment, wurde im September 1918 verletzt und starb an seinen Verletzungen. Zwei Gemälde wurden posthum auf der Ausstellung der Künstler ausgestellt, die 1919 auf der Autonomen Automobilausstellung für ihre Heimat starben. Paris, die Straße, in der sich das Hauptquartier der Vereinigung der Maler-Lithographen befand, trägt jetzt seinen Namen. Peintre français, défenseur du post-impressionnisme, Louis Abel-Truchet étudie à l'Académie Julian où il est l'élève des peintres Benjamin Constant et Jules Joseph Lefebvre. À partir de 1891, il expose les toiles, notamment au Salon d'Automne, au Salon des artistes français et à la Société nationale des beaux-arts dont il est membre en 1910. Abel-Truchet privilégie les sujets de la vie urbaine moderne à Paris et plus particulièrement le Quartier Montmartre. Il est également connu comme portraitiste et pour ses paysages rapportés par ses voyages dans le sud de la France et en Italie. Lors d'un séjour en Tunisie, il réalise également des tableaux orientalistes.Bénévole au début de la Première Guerre mondiale, il fait partie d'une équipe pionnière en 1915 qui s'occupe du camouflage militaire. Il devient alors sous-lieutenant du 1er régiment de génie, est blessé en septembre 1918 et meurt de ses blessures. Deux tableaux sont exposés à titre posthume à l'exposition des artistes décédés pour leur patrie au Salon de l'automobile de 1919.
