Unpublished answering letter to the German writer and journalist Hugo Wittmann (1839-1923) who had asked Keller for the contribution of an article or a novel to the feuilleton of the "Neue Freie Presse" in Vienna in a letter from June, 1885 (ZB Zürich, Ms. GK 79g:192). Keller declares his willingness to comply with Wittmann's request in a few months as he is occupied with pressing work at the moment. He announces one or two novels for the fall that he would be happy to contribute to the newspaper. Additionally, he had some smaller essays in mind that are yet to be written. If he produces anything worthy of publication he will not fail to offer it. - On the 9th of July, Wittmann responded with his acknowledgments and expressed his desire to publish both novels and any essay in the feuilleton (Ms. GK 79g:193). - With traces of folding and some minor tears; well preserved.
