8vo. 1½ pp. In French, to the Parisian numismatist and coin dealer Henri Hoffmann, originally accompanying a list of coins that Fox wanted to buy, also mentioning the sale of the collection of British numismatist Edward Wigan (1823-71) at the auction house Rollin & Feuardent: "J'ai choisi 21 de vos monnaies dont j'adjoins la liste sur l'autre page. Vous avez bien vendus les meilleurs mon Ami! Cependant d'en acheter moins convient à ma bourse d'autant plus que la Collection Wigan est à vendre par Feuardent, après que le Musée B[ritann]que aura choisi ceux dont on a besoin [.]". Furthermore, Fox discusses the origin of two coins, rejecting Hoffman's claims.
