Description

8vo. 1 p. on bifolium. - Jules Favre had stepped down from all political functions following the coup d'état of Napoleon III in 1851 and returned to his legal profession. As a lawyer, he famously defended Felice Orsini, the Italian revolutionary who tried to assassinate Napoleon III on 14 January 1858 and was executed on 13 March of that year. In April 1858 Favre was elected as one of only five oppositional republican deputies to the legislative assembly. - Traces of folds.
