8vo. 1 page. To Major James Oliphant (1796-1881), later director of the East India Company, about a promised vote: "I wrote to Mrs Kemble and Mr Brooke upon the receipt of your letter. They are both from home, but I have received a note from Mr. Brooke this morning promising me his vote for you [.]". - With recipient's note, traces of old mounting on the verso, and slight duststaining.
