Description
Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Was wir tun schreibt sich in die Erde ein - Gutes u. Schlechtes. Möge das Gute vorwalten! [.]". - One of the most important glass artists of the interwar period, Eiff created individually designed shrines, trophies, vases and mementos, specializing in relief and portrait engraving, and won the Grand Prix at the 1937 Paris World Fair. - Traces of a vertical fold; corners slightly creased. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
