Description
Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Auch du, mein Sohn Brutus? [.]". - Most successful in portraiture, Fechner painted prominent figures including Theodor Fontane and Wilhelm Raabe and worked as an illustrator and lithographer. In 1911 he published his autobiography "Der Spreehans", in which he describes the transformation of his quiet hometown into the popular "Seebad Wilmersdorf". - Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
