Description
Oblong 8vo (postcard). ¼ page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Working for the sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand (1847-1921) in Florence from 1878, Kurz followed him to Munich in 1893, where he made his breakthrough as an artist creating tombs, monuments, fountains and sculpture groups. He was appointed a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in 1906. - Traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
