First edition, 4to, [4], 27, [1]pp., title and prelims foxed, 11 engraved plates, orig. decorated cloth, foxed. A paper read by the binding authority Henry Wheatley for the Society of Arts on Wednesday, April 14th 1880. It includes some notes on the history and practice of bookbinding at various periods and a catalogue of bindings lent for an exhibition at the time of the paper.
