Contemporary Swedish Illustrators presents 31 picturebooks illustrators
and a short history of illustration as an art form in Sweden.
The illustrators were selected by an expert jury, to represent Sweden
at Bologna Children’s Book fair 2013 when Sweden was Guest of Honour.
The selection was made from a child’s perspective.
The featured illustrators include several long-established names, such
as Pernilla Stalfelt, Anna-Clara Tidholm, Gunna Grähs and Jockum Nordström,
as well as many artists of the younger generation born in the 1980s.
The short history of illustration in Sweden is written by professor
Lena Kåreland, Uppsala University.
The texts presenting the illustrators are written by Annika Gunnarsson,
curator Moderna Museet, Stockholm. Graphic Design by Mats Hedman.
