Ottima edizione corredata da un'ampia introduzione storica e da un esauriente apparato esplicativo, della celeberrima traduzione francese del Corano dell'orientalista Claude-Étienne Savary (1750 in Vitré, Ille-et-Vilaine – 1788).
Savary apprese l'arabo durante la sua permanenza in Egitto. Questa versione del testo coranico, la seconda in lingua francese, si rivelò superiore a quella fornita da André du Ryer nel 1647 e lodata per la fedeltà al testo originale.
La Vita di Maometto è tratta da Aboul Feda e dalla Sunnah.
