Zwolle, Tjeenk Willink, 1852. 8vo (23.1 x 13.6 cm). xvi, 339 pp.; five text illustrations, two folded engraved plates. Quarter cloth over original printed boards. Handwritten label mounted on the spine. = A rarely seen publication, written by the Dutch farmer and schoolteacher Evert Cornelis Enklaar (1799-1880). The work deals with improving farm techiques, in particular agriculture, and is loosely based on earlier German works by R. Veit and Fries. Chapters deal, e.g., with meadow plants (herbs, weeds), forage, pasture, and fodder crops. The illustrations show country household tools from England, and methods for improving land, etc. Two small library stamps and blind stamp on title. The spine cover is rather crude and simple; otherwise a very good copy.
