SALONS: Starting with the first official salon of 1673 and up to 1950, there are in all 480 Salons catalogues recorded, giving a dictionary of nearly 10,000 artist who have exhibited "prints" and illustrations for books and posters. ARTISTS: Nearly 10,000 artists of whom over 3,000 are non-French. For each artist recorded the date and place of birth and deat and infomation of about his artistic education have been added. WORKS: All the "Prints" works have been recorded giving, year of exhibition, catalogue no., name of salon, medium and quanity fo "tirage" (if known). PRINTS: Over 170,000 have been recorded in various techniques. This dictionary/biography is the most complete work on Engravers and in fact a continuation of "LES GRAVEURS DU XIXeme SIECLE by Henri Beraldi. The Standard work of reference on the subject.
