Description
This is a fine hardcover copy in a near fine dust jacket, with just light edge wear to the jacket. Completely clean inside and out. Monograph on the career of one of America's finest designers of the mid 20th century. Hanks and his assistants had the collaboration of Deskey himself, and his archive of papers and drawings, at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York to draw on. This book covers his interiors and the furniture and decorative arts work that he produced for around fifty years. Jeffrey L.Meikle's essay covers the work of Deskey's office, which concentrated on the industrial designs: everything from Gleem toothpaste packaging to the modernist streetlamps along the Henry Hudson Parkway. Essay by Deskey. Chronology. List of Commissions. Index of designs (photographic record of most of Deskey's lamps, screens, and furniture). 174 black & white illustrations and color plates + the black & white photos in the Index of designs. 11" high X 9" wide, 214 pages. Large heavy book, foreign shipping will be extra. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
