Edizione: george matthaus seutter il vecchio fu uno dei piã¹ importanti e prolifici editori di mappe tedeschi del xviii secolo. nacque ad augusta e nel 1697 part㬠per norimberga, dove lavorã² come apprendista del rinomato cartografo e incisore johann baptist homann (1664-1724). intorno al 1707, seutter tornã² ad augusta, dove alla fine apr㬠la propria attivitã editoriale, vendendo mappe, atlanti e globi. sarebbe arrivata a rivaleggiare con quella del suo ex insegnante. nel 1731, seutter ricevette il titolo di geografo imperiale dall'imperatore del sacro romano impero carlo vi. molte delle mappe di seutter hanno elaborati cartigli decorati.
