4to., First Edition, on laid paper, text and graphics in sepia throughout, with numerous photographs and facsimiles in the text; and pictorial endpapers; cloth gilt, gilt back, a fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Due to international competition the price of fish fell sharply in the years following the Napoleonic Wars This well-presented account tells how the once-prosperous town was reduced (temporarily) to near-bankruptcy as a result. Uncommon due to short print-run.
