Description
Elena è ricordata come una figura umile e dedita, non coinvolta direttamente in politica ma molto attenta ai bisogni del popolo italiano, con particolare impegno in opere di beneficenza e assistenza durante le due guerre mondiali. Durante il suo soggiorno in Italia, imparò diverse lingue e fu traduttrice per il marito nelle lingue slave e greche. Dopo la fine della monarchia, andò in esilio con il marito in Egitto, e dopo la morte di Vittorio Emanuele III nel 1947 si trasferì in Francia, dove morì nel 1952.
