Description
Boards with moderate wear to extremities and one bump to back boards. Very light water stains to front boards. Front hinge has a bit of play. Former owner's name on front free endpaper. Pages a bit browned. ; This book is part of the 20 shilling series (Inman 24) with 70 tissue-guarded illustrations. The enlarged first edition with more illustrations was published a year earlier in 4 volumes in the 7s 6d series. Plum boards with yellow lettering and decorations in yellow, olive and blue. This is the assumed later printing (not mentioned in Inman) without gilt lettering and top edge gilt, but with year on title page and no subsequent printings mentioned. (The first edition thus from 1907 was with top edge gilt). ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; xvi, 463 pages
