Description

"Approximately nine miles south of Assiniboia, the C.P.R. set up a camp during the construction of its railway to the 'south country', in 1926. Later, a general store was erected near the area, and the local post office of Maxstone was transferred to the rear of the building. Thus began a progressive and thriving community, which a few years later became a storage and distribution center for the C.P.R., during the construction of its railway from Ogle, a scant mile south of Maxstone, to Stonehenge and points west. You are about to read the history of that center, and the history of the surrounding school districts, which at one time were partially or totally served by the center." - Foreword. Includes almost two-hundred pages of information on local families. pp. vi, 298. Profusely illustrated with maps and black and white reproductions of archival photos. Clean and unmarked with light wear. Slight lean to spine. A quality copy of this precious genealogical reference. Book
