Description

Paris, Larose, 1943-1944. Two parts in one. Large 8vo (27.0 x 17.2 cm). Half titles and titles with pictorial vignette. 209 pp., 150 (groups of) text illustrations. Near contemporary blue buckram with gilt title on the spine. = A very rare complete and bound copy. Well-illustrated with taxonomically important parts, such as skulls, teeth, antlers, etc., and with a preface by the zoologist and veterinarian Éduard Bourdelle (1876-1960). Both parts published during WWII and rare: not even a single copy is currently available on the internet. Paul Rode (1901-1948) was a French mammalogist at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris. Broad margins. Stamp on front paste-down and a small blind stamp on the first title page. Otherwise a very good, clean copy. Not in Nissen.
