In protective stiff blind wrappers. = This is Darwinistische Schriften Nr. 17. It was published both as part of a series, and separately, hence the presence of two different titles. The wrappers contain more information on Darwiniana, including portraits, sold by Ernst Günther. the plate is a map of the surrounding of Darwin's house and garden, with the track of a male bumble-bee, as observed by Darwin. This edition includes a list of papers with their source, and an index. The German biologist Ernst Krause (1839-1903) was "also known under the pen-name Carus Sterne. .Initially a student of pharmacy, he later studied natural sciences at the University of Berlin. After graduation, he devoted himself to independent scientific research. He was a prominent and successful champion of Darwinism in Germany." (Wikipedia). Former private owner's stamp on first title verso, and his name in an old hand in the top margin of the second title. Uncut, edges a bit frayed, otherwise a very good copy. Rare. Currently no other copies on the internet.
