Description

Hamburg, Georg Christian Grund, 1752. Six parts in one. Small 8vo. Title pages with engraved allegorical vignettes; 656, xiv [of 16] pp.; one very large, multi-folded, engraved plate. Contemporary half calf over mottled boards. All edges red. = Early volume of a German natural history magazine, being one of the first entirely dealing with natural history subjects. This series was completed in 26 volumes published up to 1762. Owner's inscription in an old hand on the front pastedown. Lacks the last index leaf and endpapers. Boards a bit worn, small worm hole in the gutter, otherwise very good, clean. Cat BM(NH) p. 1414.
