A LARGE-PAPER COPY OF THIS BEAUTIFULLY-ILLUSTRATED EDITION of Le Sage's perennial favorite. XIII, 1, 808 pp. ONE OF ONLY 48 NUMBERED COPIES PRINTED ON FINE CHINESE PAPER. Illustrated with 300 wood-engravings by Barbant after Philippoteaux and Pellicer. For the regular edition the illustrations were printed from electrotype reproductions of the woodblocks; ONLY IN LARGE-PAPER COPIES LIKE THIS ONE ARE THE ILLUSTRATIONS PRINTED DIRECTLY FROM THE ORIGINAL BLOCKS. Large 4to. Beautifully bound c. 1930 by Levitzky (signed) in three-quarters morocco a decorated boards, preserving the original pink-orange printed wraps. Binding a little bit worn but still very attractive. Internally a bit of foxing, as almost always with Chinese paper, but otherwise FINE AND BRIGHT.
