8vo., Second Edition, with 6 plates, 7 plans (one double-page) in the text and a very large folding map, some faint offsetting from fold-ins to free endpapers; original black cloth, upper board and backstrip lettered in brown, a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter lightly chafed at extremities and mildly age-soiled on (predominantly white) rear panel. First published in 1936, this is the first comprehensive guide to the settlements of the island, compiled by the Inspector of Antiquities. Professor David Talbot contributes an introductory chapter on the icon and the Greek Church. EXTREMELY SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.
