4to., with 8 full-page coloured maps and very numerous monochrome illustrations in the text, pages very faintly browned at extremities; black cloth, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. The only substantial account from the German viewpoint was first published in 1990. The original edition is now scarce; this is the first reissue.
