The book is the first Russian study of the phenomenon of Russian artistic emigration of the "first wave" from 1917- 1922. This refers to artists who studied and started their professional activities in Russia, but were forced to continue in other countries: Turkey (Constantinople), Kingdom of Serbs, Croatians and Slovenes (Belgrade), Czechoslovakia (Prague), Germany (Berlin) and France (Paris). Artists include" Kandinsky, Chagall, Goncharova, Larionov, and artists from the circle of the "World of Art" Alexandre Benois, Somov, stylists Boris Grigoriev, Yakovlev and Annenkov to the experimenters and modernists A. Remizov, V. Baranov-Rossini, A. Pevzner, A. Lansky, C. Polyakov, N. de Stael and others. Illustrated lavishly in color + many vintage black & white photographs of these artists and particularly installation shots of famous or well known exhibitions. 12" high X 10" wide, 383 pages.
