Edizione: the autobiography of one of the most famous frontiersmen of the american west. this special lakeside press edition is considered the "polished" version of the memoir, which was originally published with little fanfare in 1926 after being rediscovered in the estate of the son of a u.s. army surgeon who had co-written a biography of carson back in 1858. all published forms of carson's own writings of his own story prior to this lakeside press edition are of extreme scarcity.
