Description

RARE early 20th-century German book aimed at teaching the fundaments of Jewish faith and ritual to men, women and children. The book features the German translation next to the Hebrew original. Salomon Ephraim Blogg (Shelomoh ben Efrayim Blokh; Bloch) (1778 or 1780-1858) was an eminent German-Jewish grammarian, scholar of Jewish liturgy, teacher, author and publisher (he founded the Hebrew book section at Ernst August Telgener publishing house). 215x180mm. 190 pages. Black cloth Hardcover with gilt lettering on front cover and spine. Cover rubbed and slightly stained. Cover corners, spine edges and hinges bumped and peeling. Spine front hinge glued. Endpapers and whitepages age-stained. Pen inscription on front whitepage. Binding slightly loose and visible between front endpaper and whitepage, and between pages 188-189. Title page slightly loose. Pages browning. Save for the aforementioned wear, this rare book is in good condition.
