EXTREMELY RARE! An early 18th century edition of Ein Yaakov and Beth Yisrael, collection of legends and fables of the Talmudic scholars, collected by 15th century Sephardic rabbi Ibn Habib. The book was printed in quatro, with the handsome Amsterdam typeface, and it includes numerous commentaries and sidenotes. The title pages feature handsome decorative frames. The whitepage features the date of births of the previous owner's children, dated 1840. 350x220mm, 178+192 double pages. Quarter-cloth hardcover. Blue paper dustjacket taped to cover. Cover loose. Front cover partially detached. Stamp on whitepage. Whitepage and first title page slightly torn. Preface page torn. Pages 145-153 of first part partially detached. Pages yellowing with few aging stains. Last few pages stained and creased. Despite the aforementioned wear, this handsome edition of a beloved traditional Jewish book is in good condition.
