Description

Folio (206 x 270 mm). (2) pp. Original photographic wrappers. A rare "special presentation" by the Kuwait Ministry of Information as it appeared in Newsweek International. The Kuwaiti government published several articles under this title, only two of which are available in institutions, but it was this Newsweek edition which was cited most frequently in Western energy studies. Much of the newsletter is dedicated to Kuwait's Fund for Arab Economic Development (FAED), which funneled Kuwait's newfound oil wealth into aid for developing countries, often but not always in the Arab sphere, in the form of both grants and loans. FAED was founded in 1961 by then Minister of Finance H.H. Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah (1926-2006), the third ruler of Kuwait following independence from the British. - A few light smudges on front wrapper, otherwise in excellent condition.
