8vo (159x104 mm) [80], 511, [1 blank] pp. Collation: A-E8 A-II8. Leaf E8 is a blank and contains an 18th-century manuscript purchasing note and ownership entry (repeated several times also at the beginning and at the end of the volume). Printer's device on title page. 17th-century stiff vellum, ink title on spine (soiled). Marginal staining and foxing.
Early edition of this grammatical and rhetorical compendium, which includes a section on letter writing and an appendix on orthography. Lucio Giovanni Scoppa was a grammarian and lexicographer from Naples, who wrote very successful school texts including a large Latin-Italian dictionary entitled Spicilegio (1512).
