Nella prima parte viene descritta la meravigliosa fioritura di vita e di opere realizzate dalla Madre Patria dal 1912 al 1943; nella seconda le tragiche e sanguinose giornate di guerra a Rodi, a Coo, a Lero e nelle isole minori; nella terza il lungo e spinoso periodo di umiliazioni, di prigionia e di fame che seguì l'immeritata sconfitta dei nostri valorosi soldati. Il volume è arricchito da una preziosa testimonianza di fatti desunti in gran parte da note e fotografie prese sul campo da un valoroso Cappellano Militare dell'Aeronautica. Per la prima volta, appare in questo volume un completo e ordinato elenco di tutti i militari caduti a Rodi e nelle altre isole del Dodecanneso.
