RARE monograph on the life and works of Jonah ibn Janah (Janach, also known as Abu al-Walid Marwan ibn Janach, c. 990-c. 1055), was an eminent Jewish rabbi, physician and Hebrew grammarian active in Al-Andalus, or Islamic Spain. The author - Wilhelm Bacher (1850-1913) was an influential Jewish Hungarian scholar, rabbi, Orientalist and linguist. Bacher was a very prolific writer, authoring or co-authoring approximately 750 works. 220x145mm. IV+108 pages. Black/grey marbled board rebound Hardcover with cloth spine. Cover yellowing and rubbed. Cover corners and edges corners peeling. Sticker residues on spine upper edge. Spine edges peeling/tattered. Bindign slightly visible between pages 62-63. Introduction and two last pages age-stained. Pages browning. Else in good condition.
