(27.6 and 4.7.1695) contained the two parts of Leibniz's ?Syst?me nouveau de la nature et de la communication des substances, aussi bien que de l'union qu'il y a entre l'?me et le corps? This important publication provoked considerable comment and discussion, and gave Leibniz the opportunity, as he had hoped, further to explain and develop the metaphysical ideas he had been coming to for a number of years. The papers in this volume carry on that discussion.
