India ink, ink wash and white heightening on fine wove paper. 39.2 x 29.7 cm. The artwork used in this publication is especially interesting as there is a section in each volume where the artist himself comments on each of the drawings used. The present drawing is reproduced as a full-page plate on page 179 of volume II. The extensive commentary appears in the same volume (pp. 239-249). Folio.
