Description

Boards with light rubbing to extremities. Slight fraying to spine ends. Spine lettering faded. A handsome and tight copy of this early edition ; Brown buckram boards with decorative blindstamped pattern. David Livingstone (1813-1873) was raised religiously and later accepted a job with the London Missionary Society, that sent him to Southern Africa to build three missionaries. In 1849 he went on his first expedition to Lake Ngami. In 1851 took another expedition to the Chobe and Zambesi Rivers. Later he visited the "Mosi-oa-tunya Falls" which he named "Victoria Falls". In 1856 he returned to England, where this book was originally published. After this he returned to Africa to fight the slave trade. ; B&W Illustrations; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; xiv, 442, 14 pages
