First and only edition of this essential study of the "goig" ("gozo" in Spanish), a Catalan art form which comprises a woodcut or metalcut, and a popular religious poem or song, printed on a single sheet. The first volume covers the goig from its origins until 1700. The second volume covers the 18th century. Hundreds of full-page facsimiles.
